DROP

A drop falls onto the water in a container. A submerged hydrophone captures the vibrations propagating through the water, amplifying a minute event until its audibility is transformed. In DROP, the live performance of the violin intertwines with the falling drops in real time, exploring the production of audibility as a relational process in which sound emerges through multiple amplifications.

Graciela Muñoz Farida is a Chilean composer, violinist, sound artist, and researcher. Her practice explores the audible as an ecological process. Through electroacoustics, field recordings, installation, and sound experimentation, she develops works that amplify ordinarily overlooked organisms. She is currently conducting her Fondecyt Postdoctoral Research Project No. 3240502, funded by ANID, Chile, investigating the production of audibility in the miniature forests of the subantarctic region.

ERB – LONBERG-HOLM
aka Screw & Straw
