Kaplan-Valencia dúo brings together two distinctive voices from the international free improvisation scene: María Valencia (alto saxophone and clarinet) and Leonel Kaplan (cornet, trumpet). Drawing on decades of combined experience across Latin America, Europe, and the United States, the duo creates a live performance rooted in spontaneous interaction, extended techniques, and a shared sensitivity to texture, breath, and silence. Their music moves between fragile, translucent sound surfaces and moments of dense intensity, exploring the acoustic possibilities of their wind instruments in dialogue. Rather than following a fixed score, the performance unfolds in real time, allowing the space and the moment to shape the result. María Valencia
Colombian saxophonist, clarinetist, improviser, and composer, born in Bogotá. She holds a degree in Music from Javeriana University and a Master’s in Fine Arts and Electronic Arts from the University of Los Andes (Bogotá). She has performed across Colombia, Europe, Latin America, and the United States, and her work has been released on labels including Relative Pitch Records (US), Sonic Transmissions (NO), Música Corriente (CO), and Dur et Doux (FR). She is a member of Meridian Brothers, one of Colombia’s most acclaimed and internationally renowned bands, and alongside her solo projects she also plays in Hurakán Orkan, Tarabita Espiral, MULA, Trío Lesión, and Tortuga Alada. Leonel Kaplan
A must-hear, one-of-a-kind trumpeter. Born in Buenos Aires (1973) and now based in Belgrade, Leonel Kaplan has been a singular voice in the international free improvisation scene since the early 2000s, focused on extended techniques and the purest matters of sound. He is widely regarded as one of the most internationally projected Argentine improvisers, and has toured and recorded worldwide alongside John Butcher, Christof Kurzmann, Axel Dörner, Michel Doneda, Klaus Filip, Birgit Ulher, Tetuzi Akiyama, and Nate Wooley, among many others. Beyond performing, he has composed for dance, theatre, and light installations. His music has been released on labels such as Relative Pitch (US), ESP-Disk‘ (US), Another Timbre (UK), Dromos, and Creative Sources. Silke Strahl und Carl Ludwig Hübsch begeben sich mit Saxophon, Tuba und Stimme in die Wildnis der unerhörten
Töne. Vor den Augen des Publikums entsteht Zartes, Raues, Filigranes und Brutales im Brennpunkt der Echtzeit.
Vertiefung, Überraschung und einfach gute Musik schöpfen aus einem unbegrenzbarem Klangspektrum.
Strahl und Hübsch verfeinern täglich ihr Werkzeug und ihre Klang-Paletten. Daher ist ihr Spiel ist ebenso persönlich wie
grundlegend offen für all das, was da kommt und geht.

Geboren 1988 in Bad Saulgau, genoss Silke Strahl im Alter von 9 Jahren ihren ersten Musikunterricht. Das Studium der elementaren Musikpädagogik an der Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst Stuttgart begann sie 2008. Ab 2010 studierte sie zusätzlich klassisches Saxophon bei Nikola Lutz. Ein Erasmus Aufenthalt führte sie nach Luzern, wo sie den Instrumental-Bachelor und das Masterstudium “Interpretation of contemporary music“ bei Sascha Armbruster und Beat Hofstetter abschloss. Silke ist in verschiedenen Ensembles tätig mit denen sie u.a. zeitgenössische Werke uraufführt oder interdisziplinäre Projekte verwirklicht. Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt ihrer Arbeit ist die freie Improvisation. Hier steht sie unter
anderem mit Hans-Peter Pfammatter, Christian Weber, Kevin Sommer, Raphael Loher, Tizia Zimmermann oder Lucas Niggli auf der Bühne. Ausserdem ist sie als Aushilfe und Zuzügerin in verschiedenen Orchestern und Ensembles, wie dem Sinfonieorchester Basel, zu hören. Sie gewann 2019 mit ihrem Duo Klexs den zweiten Preis des renommierten
Wettbewerb Concours Nicati und 2016 den Edwin-Fischer- Anerkennungspreis, sowie den Soundzz.z.zzz…z- Wettbewerb des Lucerne Festivals. Ausserdem engagiert sie sich aktiv für die Luzerner Kulturszene, im Forum Neue Musik Luzern und dem Mullbau Luzern. https://www.silkestrahl.com/

Carl Ludwig Hübsch komponiert für kleine und grosse Besetzungen intuitiver oder Neuer Musik und ist als Tubist ein im In- und Ausland gefragter Improvisierer oder Interpret. Er studierte Komposition meist autodidaktisch, jedoch auch z.B. als Gaststudent in der Kompositionsklasse von Johannes Fritsch in Köln. Hübsch komponiert für verschiedene Ensembles wie z.B. das Multiple Joy[ce] Orchestra in Köln, seine eigenen Gruppen oder für Kompositionsaufträge. Sein kompositorisches Schaffen stellt den Interpreten als kreative Instanz im Umgang mit vorab komponierter Musik in den Mittelpunkt. Seit 1989 tritt Carl Ludwig Hübsch regelmäßig mit herausragenden bekannten und unbekannten Meistern seines Metiers zusammen auf.
