Angharad Davies (Violine) & Werner Dafeldecker (Kontrabass)

Die Violinistin Angharad Davies und der Kontrabassist Werner Dafeldecker verbinden in dieser Konzertreihe ihre langjährige Erfahrung im Bereich der experimentellen und improvisierten Musik. Beide sind für ihre differenzierte Klangsprache und ihr feines Gespür für mikrotonale Strukturen international bekannt. In ihrer Zusammenarbeit loten sie das akustische Potenzial ihrer Instrumente aus. Im Zentrum steht die gemeinsame Erforschung der Räume zwischen reiner Stimmung und mikrotonalen Schwebungen, kontrollierten Gesten und spontaner klanglicher Entwicklung. Dabei kommen erweiterte Spieltechniken ebenso zum Einsatz wie eine bewusste Reduktion des klanglichen Vokabulars.
Im Rahmen der bevorstehenden Konzerte setzen Davies und Dafeldecker ihre individuelle künstlerische Forschung in einen dialogischen Prozess um – eine akustische Erkundung jenseits stilistischer Kategorisierungen, an der Schwelle zwischen Komposition und Improvisation, Struktur und Offenheit.

Angharad Davies is a violin player who’s work exists between the thresholds of improvisation, composition and experimental music. Her approach to sound involves attentive listening and exploring beyond the sonic confines of her instrument and performance expectation. Being an intrepid collaborator has seen her work with the likes of Tony Conrad, Elaine Radigue, Tarek Atoui, Gwenno, Lina Lapelyte, Richard Dawson, JG Thirlwell, Jessie Marino, Tim Parkinson and Annea Lockwood. As a composer she has been commissioned by Counterflows, LCMF, Tŷ Cerdd, Nawr, Explore Ensemble, GBSR duo for HCMF, AndPLAY, Ligeti Quartet for Rainy Days Festival and Heather Roche + Dominic Lash. Her music is often played on BBC Radio 3’s New Music Show.

Adam Pultz: FAAB 

Adam Pultz-Melbye (Feedback-Kontrabass)

Adam Pultz’s solo concerts are characterized by a sustained focus on the subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) timbral and rhythmical dynamics emerging between a human performer and the FAAB—a bespoke feedback double bass with a built-in speaker. Assisted by the self-oscillating strings, yet challenged by the autonomous and sometimes unpredictable behaviour of the instrument, Adam explores spectral ambiguity and metastable low-frequency pulsing while negotiating performative agency.

Adam Pultz Melbye is a double bass player, composer, and improviser working in the field of acoustic and electronic sound. Adam’s work spans live performance, sound installation, sound for dance, theatre, film, multimedia, sculpture, algorithmic design, and instrument building. They have performed and exhibited work in Europe, Australia, the US, and Japan, while appearing on close to 50 albums, 4 of these solo efforts. They hold a practice-led PhD in music technology from SARC, Queen’s University Belfast.
